To join a server when it is running a custom map Here's what happens Authorized Maps run on a different query port than Unauthorized maps then Gameservers thinks the server is offline. When actually it is not
After running a custom map to get Gameservers and the AA Server list to display the server agian it must be restarted
now to join the server
So you want to join a server but can't find it in the browser? If you know the IP address it is possible to join it straight from the ingame console (this is where you type messages and so on when playing). Here's how it works;
1. Start the game and log in to your account
2. Hit the Tilde key (~) to open the console, note that you do not need to be in a game server to use the console.
3. To join a server you need to type the command open followed by a space than the server IP
our 10 slot
open 208.167.250.207:1716
4. Press the Enter key and you should be taken to the server. Ensure you have downloaded the map you need or you will be unable to join.
5. A quick word about port numbers. This is the four digit number at the end of the IP address, it is the bit after the colon (:) AA uses 1716 as it's default port, so if you do not include a port number this is what the game will use. The use of different ports means that more than one game can be hosted on a server box.
Note that the only difference is the port number. It is important to get this right or you may end up on the wrong server. If you do it is easy to fix. Just bring up your console and try again (For a shortcut you can use the up arrow to bring up the last command typed in. You can now edit the text and hit enter to join another server).
6. That's all there is to it. This works for any server out there, not just those running custom maps. So if you know the IP you are no longer at the mercy of the ingame browser...Hooah!
